Instructing is a unique opportunity to instill positive values and help kids develop healthy habits that extend far beyond the playing field. Our Instructors provide a welcoming atmosphere, teach fundamentals of Silat and promote positive structure. In this role, you’ll help participants access the positive benefits of martial arts, including character-building, skill development, and teamwork. Other benefits include: • Feeling the rewards of serving others. • Building positive relationships with community members. • Practicing your leadership skills. • Help emphasize the Y Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility Volunteer Coach Responsibilities: • Familiarize yourself with the coaching resources on the YMCA’s website: https://www.daytonymca.org/programs/coaching-resources • Assist the instructor with execution of instruction • Instruct participants in the fundamentals while promoting good sportsmanship • Assist with program items and needs • Communicate with participants and parents • Share praise and build confidence in young athletes • Promote an inclusive and positive experience The average time commitment is a monthly meeting (up to 4hrs)
